Dr. Stephanie Checel received her Bachelor of Science in Dairy Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1997, and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the School of Veterinary Medicine at University College Dublin in 2003. After graduating from Veterinary school, she completed an internship at Animal Emergency and Referral Center in Torrance, CA and then worked at various small animal practices in the Los Angeles area.
After a few years as a general practitioner, Dr. Checel became interested in acupuncture for animals while she was being treated for her migraines with acupuncture and found it to be a very effective treatment. Dr. Checel felt that she could provide better patient care when blending eastern and western medicines which led her to attend the Chi Institute to become a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA) and a Certified Veterinary Tui-na Practitioner (CVTP). Dr Checel continues to work as a general practitioner and recently joined the team at Beach Animal Rehabilitation Center with the intention of becoming a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist.
